Description
Beeching’s Tracks was produced as part of the BBC’s Railway Season. Presenter Joe Crowley takes a journey around the south of England and discovers the effects of Dr Beeching’s infamous cuts made during the 1960s. From the site of the former carriage works at Lancing to a lovingly restored station, a trip on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and interviews, including artist and steam enthusiast David Shepherd. Includes high quality archive film footage.
Southern Splendour (originally only available as a ‘reader exclusive’ through SRM), celebrates steam on the ‘Southern’: a trip on the main line behind Bulleid Light Pacific Tangmere, from Victoria to the Mid-Hants Railway; steam action at the picturesque Swanage Railway, and a spectacular high speed footplate blast between Salisbury and Yeovil.
