Two archive films on one DVD portraying life in a bygone age: CUNARDERS AT SOUTHAMPTON (1950, full colour), includes the first arrival of RMS Caronia, the last departure of Aquitania heading for the breakers, and the ‘Cunard Queens’. The second film from the archives produced in black & white in 1949, shows the development of the city and port of Southampton during the 1930s and 40s, and includes the war effort, and unique insight on how things were done at the docks in an age before mechanisation and container transport!
